How did you hear about Play?

“I first heard about Brookside Play during a service at Northview Church. We watched a video about the purpose and goals and progress being made for children in this program. I felt so moved by it, so compelled to learn more. I had been praying for some time to understand where God wanted me to serve - I felt guided toward Play and was excited to get involved.”

When did you start serving at Play?

“I began serving at Brookside in November - Fall 2 being my first session. I’m eager to find another opportunity here at Play in 2019!”

What activities have you taught the kids?

“It has been such a privilege to get to know these children - and to have their big hearts revealed in such big ways! I hope I encouraged them to explore their imaginations, to feel confident in their unique abilities, and to have compassion for their classmates and for themselves. I also hope they feel strengthened by the stories of God’s love that we read together.”

What have you learned from serving the kids?

“The last 6 weeks have been tremendously joyful and completely inspiring. I came to Brookside Play in the hopes that I could contribute to the amazing growth that is happening in this community, but I had no idea just how much I, myself, would be changed.”

“Serving at Play has been a wonderful reminder that possibly some of the most purposeful things you can do with children is to just be present, listen, and let them know that you believe in them.”
